Photos have emerged of
Xbox
\’ s forthcoming partnership with Asus for a portable device set to launch later this year.
Microsoft
has been hinting at plans for two distinct portable devices for quite a while now, with one of them being a
next gen device
while the latter involves a third-party collaboration.
Based on a
teaser trailer
Starting from last month, this seems to involve a collaboration with Asus, who introduced their own portable gaming gadget, the Asus ROG Ally, in 2023.
The firm\’s partnership with Xbox, known as Project Kennan, appears to have been fully exposed via an FCC filing.

As reported by
VideoCardz
, the pictures appear to show two variants of the upcoming Asus ROG Ally 2. The white version looks like the standard version of the handheld, while the black version is believed to be the Xbox device, aka Project Kennan.
The two devices look quite similar at first glance, except for their dusty exteriors. However, there\’s a small button located in the upper-left corner of the black unit which seems to indicate an Xbox-specific control; despite being uncolored, one can barely make out the \’X\’ shape. The white model also features this button, though it lacks the distinctive Xbox markings visible on the black variant.
The leaked information reveals that the black Xbox version will have greater processing capabilities compared to its white variant. It’s claimed that the black edition will feature an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip with 8 cores and a thermal design power of 36 watts, whereas the white model employs an AMD Aerith Plus CPU with 4 cores and a TDP of 20 watts.
It remains uncertain whether the Xbox version will feature a separate operating system or just improved integration with the Xbox app via Windows. Given that Microsoft is also developing an additional portable device, this could be related.

, this will likely intended only as a stop-gap solution to test the market.
Notably, Microsoft has recently introduced a new \’Xbox PC\’ brand as part of their unveiling.
Gears Of War: Reloaded
So, it\’s possible this Asus product might fall under that category.
Don\’t anticipate this being inexpensive; the initial Asus ROG Ally retails for approximately £599 at the official store. After
Microsoft’s recent price hikes
Because of the US tariffs, this gadget might significantly empty your wallet.
Apart from the cost, the main query revolves around when this portable device will make its official debut. Microsoft remains tight-lipped on this aspect.
Xbox summer showcase
on June 8, but considering this is primarily an Asus device, it might instead debut at the Computex 2025 trade show on May 20, 2025.
