That\’s when Bertinelli casually revealed that she \”went out with Steven for a brief moment\” before getting married to her first husband.

We were together for, what seems like, three or maybe four months?\” Bertinelli reminisced, with Barrymore looking at her in stunned silence. \”Steven still owns one of my bowling shirts that was left at your place, and I never retrieved it from the closet after our breakup,\” she joked, \”so could I please have it returned!
Barrymore subsequently inquired whether they enjoyed their time together while dating steadily. \”I had an amazing time with him,\” Bertinelli affirmed. \”He took me to the Academy Awards that year, and I attended. This was probably the same year,\” she added.

In the same year when she had a relationship with Spielberg, Bertinelli went on to meet and start dating Van Halen. They got married a year later and stayed together for more than twenty years until they finalized their divorce in 2007.
Earlier this week, Bertinelli informed Barrymore that she has advised both her son and Van Halen\’s child, Wolfgang Van Halen, against releasing any biographical movies.
