Minecraft Movie Dominates Box Office for Second Week with $80 Million

\”A movie based on Minecraft\” raked in an impressive $80.6 million during its second week in North American cinemas, significantly outperforming other films, as per industry estimates released on Sunday.

The Warner Bros. movie starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, adapted from the globe\’s best-selling video game, has already amassed more than $550 million globally and seems poised to become one of the most successful box office hits in recent times.

Runner-up was \’The King of Kings,\’ an animated, spiritually-themed release from Angel Studios which debuted with earnings of $19 million as per reports from Comscore. This movie adapts a tale by Charles Dickens focusing on a son and his father journeying through the life of Christ. It features a lineup of renowned voice talent such as Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, and Oscar Isaac, who voices Jesus.

The spy thriller \’The Amateur,\’ featuring Rami Malek, debuted at third place with $15 million.

The fourth spot was claimed by \”Warfare,\” an Iraq War-themed drama that debuted with $8.3 million. This was closely followed by Blumhouse\’s horror movie \”Drop,\” which started off with $7.5 million at the box office.

\”The Chosen: The Last Supper — Season 5, Part Three\” secured sixth place after earning an impressive $6 million during its opening weekend at the box office. This long-running TV series chronicling the life and teachings of Jesus Christ continues to perform above expectations with each theatrical release.

Completing the top 10 domestic releases were \”A Working Man\” with $3 million, \”Disney’s Snow White\” earning $2.8 million, \”The Woman in the Yard\” grossing $2.1 million, and \”The Chosen: The Last Supper — Season 5, Part Two\” bringing in $932,106.
