Collectively, they have put together an enchanting display at Frieze, showcasing the distinctive traits of the artist\’s creations alongside LG\’s advanced technological features.
Guests at the exhibit will encounter Mello, a hallmark character created by Harrington that encapsulates the happiness found in ordinary experiences and creative expression—brought vividly to life through the cutting-edge LG SIGNATURE OLED T transparent television. With playful gestures, Mello greets visitors from an opaquely decorated background featuring floral motifs. Encouraging guests to approach, he triggers a transformation as the flowers dissipate, uncovering a see-through display area where attendees can pose alongside him for photos. This fluid shift between translucent and clear modes provides an almost augmented reality-style interaction for those exploring the show.
In front of a backdrop of subdued tones like black and grey, LG OLED displays enhance the vividness of Harrington’s artwork. This showcase includes the latest LG OLED evo models—M5, G5—and the upcoming StanbyME 2 TV units, all presenting Harrington’s bright creations, as Mello fluidly transitions between these screen spaces. The M5 edition emphasizes its wire-free design for an uncluttered appearance, whereas the G5 underscores its outstanding self-emissive tech delivering crisp images with rich darkness levels. Scheduled for release, the StanbyME 2 stands out due to its flexibility and portability, making it suitable for different placements such as wall mounts, freestanding setups, or use atop a pedestal.
Harrington stated, “This partnership has broadened my perspective on artistic creation.” He continued, “As the inaugural American artist collaborating with LG’s transparent OLED television, I had the opportunity to explore an entirely novel form of expression—where illumination, movement, and hue breathe life into my figures in unprecedented ways. This experience revealed a fresh layer of vividness and narrative potential that I am eager to delve deeper into.”
LG’s OLED TV serves as an exceptional digital canvas, offering deep blacks and enhancing depth and realism with accurate color representation,\” stated Kate Oh, vice president of experiential marketing at LG Electronics. \”We are thrilled to work alongside daring artists such as Steven Harrington, whose distinctive style resonates well with LG OLED’s aim to motivate artistic endeavors and link individuals via cutting-edge digital interactions.
Visitors to Frieze New York 2025 can experience LG\’s latest OLED TVs and Harrington\’s artwork from May 7 to 11 at The Shed.
Recognized by artists worldwide as the ultimate digital canvas, LG OLED continues to merge cutting-edge technology with contemporary art through various cultural initiatives. This premium display offers stunning visuals with unparalleled clarity and seamlessly integrates into any environment. Following Frieze, LG will partner with Italian design brand Kartell to display the SIGNATURE OLED T at Kartell\’s New York flagship store – building on their successful collaboration at CES 2025, where LG\’s transparent TV was paired with Kartell\’s iconic transparent furniture. Additionally, LG will work with Ayoung Kim, trailblazing digital artist and the third recipient of the LG Guggenheim Award, for an upcoming exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum.
