Empuraan Box Office Update: Mohanlal\’s Film Aims for $32M Global Milestone on Day 14

The Malayalam movie L2: Empuraan has been doing remarkably well since its debut.

Featuring Mohanlal as the protagonist, this thrilling action movie has been setting records. Early trade estimates suggest that the film is expected to surpass earnings of Rs 260 crores at the global box office in merely two weeks since its launch.

The follow-up to the 2019 success Lucifer garnered Rs 102.18 crore net and Rs 118.85 crore gross within India. Nevertheless, on day 14, the movie experienced a decline of 24 percent in revenue, earning around Rs 1.15 crore on Wednesday. Internationally, it amassed Rs 141.15 crore, which brings its global haul up to Rs 259.50 crore overall.

At the same time, the global box office for the debut film, Lucifer, amounted to Rs 127.5 crore.

was embroiled in a controversy
Over the portrayal of riot scenes that mirrored the 2002 Gujarat riots, the creators faced significant criticism. Following this backlash, they had to edit and cut out two minutes and eight seconds from the film. Nonetheless, the Empuraan team continues to encounter difficulties over the matter.

In addition to Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the film Empuraan stars Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Jerome Flynn, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and numerous others in its ensemble cast. The movie hit theaters on March 27.
