Walter Emanuel Jones, the actor famous for portraying the Black Power Ranger in the \”Mighty Morphin Power Rangers\” from the 1990s, has dismissed the idea that selecting him for the part was an error.

Jones’s statements come after Tony Oliver, a writer for the show, expressed his regret over casting a Black actor as the Black Ranger and choosing Thuy Trang for the role of the Yellow Ranger, who is Asian.

During an interview for Investigation Discovery’s \”Dark Side of the Power Rangers,\” Oliver mentioned that he hadn\’t been aware of the stereotype until his assistant brought it to his attention.

\”It was truly an error,\” Oliver stated.

According to clips from the documentary, Jones jokingly commented on the choice of a Black actor for the role of the Black Power Ranger.

\”My name is Walter Jones, and I portray Zack. I am African American, and I play the Black Ranger—can you believe it?\” Jones stated in the video snippet.

The program became a major cultural sensation for numerous people.
rearing up during the 1990s
, to such an extent that Jones came together with co-stars for a 30th anniversary reunion special.

\”It wasn\’t an error; it was a landmark. It was an honor,\” Jones stated in his Instagram post.
