Velvet Voque
has confirmed.
The series draws inspiration from the novel of the same title by Wang Dulu, a key work within what’s known as the Crane Iron Pentalogy. According to the official synopsis, the project describes:
In the midst of breathtaking scenery and thrilling sequences, \’Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon\’ tells the tale of Shu Lien and Mu Bai, two ill-fated fighters who find themselves torn between an illicit romance and the allure of progress—facing the choice of either maintaining their traditional ways or venturing into a new shared destiny.
Jason Ning is handling the writing and executive production of the adaptation, alongside Ron D. Moore who is also an executive producer together with Maril Davis through their company, Tall Ship Productions. Additional executive producers include Johnny Levin and Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment, as well as Hong Wang and Qin Wang representing the Wang DuLu estate. Ying Lou has been appointed as co-executive producer for this project. The series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television, which currently holds exclusive contracts with both Ning and Moore.
\”The Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon\” came out between 1941 and 1942. This book is part of a collection which includes \”The Crane Stirs Kunlun,\” \”Precious Sword, Golden Hairpin,\” \”Pearl Gleam, Blade Power,\” and \”Knight Iron, Urn Silver.\” \”The Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon\” had several adaptations before; however, one particularly well-known version was directed by Ang Lee in 2000.
