SEOUL, April 10 (Yonhap) — BigHit Music reported on Thursday that BTS’s 2018 single \”IDOL\” has now exceeded 500 million plays on Spotify.
Released in August 2018 as the title track of their repackaged album \”LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer,\” IDOL hit the milestone as of April 8, becoming the group’s 15th song as a group to exceed the 500 million mark on the global streaming platform.
IDOL merges South African dance rhythms with conventional Korean components such as gugak-inspired melodies and recitation, resulting in a daring, cross-cultural musical style.
Previously, this song reached number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 21 on the UK Official Singles Charts Top 100, thereby strengthening BTS\’s worldwide influence.
