Snow White Fades to #8 in Its Fourth Weekend as \”The King of Kings\” Takes the Crown

\”It looks like \’Snow White\’ may be nearing its end at the box office. During its fourth weekend, the movie brought in just $2.8 million domestically and ranked eighth among the top ten movies. Surprisingly, it was even surpassed by a new biblical-themed animated film called \’The />\’
The King of Kings,”
Which secured the second spot with $17.6 million at the domestic box office.

King of Kings\” earned more during its first weekend at the box office compared to
\”Snow White,\” during its second weekend, earned $14.3 million.
And nearly equaling the total box office of the Disney film during its second and third weeks combined ($20.2 million).

Although this is great news for \”The King of Kings,\” it\’s devastating for a Disney heritage intellectual property movie.

Disney might as well remove the movie from theaters since it isn\’t likely to generate significant additional revenue.

\”Minecraft\” is dominating the box office attention.
And it will add another $80 million plus to the domestic box office. Interestingly, \”Snow White\” has now crossed the $80 million mark domestically this week, whereas \”Minecraft\” achieved that feat during its second weekend.

Currently, the number of domestic theaters showing
\”Snow White\” had fallen from 4,200 to 2,540.
.

The movie has bombed at the box office.

There\’s a slim chance \”Snow White\” will reach $100 million at the domestic box office, or even $200 million worldwide.

The movie supposedly came with a price tag of approximately $270 million prior to accounting for marketing and theater modifications. To recoup these costs, it needed to generate somewhere in the range of $500 to $600 million at the box office.

Once it became evident that the movie wasn\’t succeeding and the expenses were spiraling out of control, Disney ought to have abandoned the project rather than investing additional funds.

Viewers would have been understanding had they stated that they reconsidered and felt unable to adequately represent the animated movie that built the Walt Disney Empire. However, instead of retracting, they reinforced their errors and proceeded with the release of the film.

They not only made the release, but they pushed it out just a few weeks before \”Minecraft.\” Given this timing, \”Snow White\” didn\’t stand much chance to gain traction, regardless of how good it might have been. This all happened around midway through the year.

It\’s time to leave the movie dormant. Nobody is going to bestow upon it a genuine awakening.
