A man from Australia received a 21-week prison sentence for igniting a curtain blind and using offensive language towards immigration officials at Singapore\’s Changi Airport.
Hasan Korkmaz, aged 34, admitted guilt to several charges related to harassment and assault of public officials during a hearing on Monday at the courthouse.

As stated in the indictment, he reached Singapore on December 11, 2024.
The man grew restless and started yelling at the officers after his request for a cigarette was refused.
He took out the curtain blinds and employed a lighter to do so.

Members of the Airport Police Division succeeded in putting out the blaze.
Before being overpowered and taken into custody, the individual discharged a fire extinguisher at the officers.
The damaged curtain blind would cost S$1,000 to replace, the court said.
