During the Star Wars Celebration Japan event, an important release date was announced. Lucasfilm disclosed crucial information regarding their forthcoming third installment as well as a fresh spin-off series. The third volume is set to premiere in October 2025 featuring nine brand-new episodes. Titled \”The Ninth Jedi,\” this offshoot will delve deeper into one of the franchise’s best-received tales from previous collections. At the Star Wars Celebration Japan event, Lucasfilm revealed that the third volume of Star Wars: Visions is scheduled to debut on October 29, 2025.

James Waugh, who serves as Lucasfilm’s Senior Vice President of Franchise Content & Strategy, disclosed that the upcoming installment of the animated anthology series would feature nine episodes. In a glimpse at what’s to come, Kenji Kamiyama, known for directing “The Ninth Jedi” segment in Volume 1, hinted at an episode titled “Child of Hope.” According to him, this particular story concludes with Kara setting off to find her dad. Additionally, this narrative thread will be further developed in a recently unveiled spin-off project.

At the same panel, Kamiyama formally unveiled \”Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi,\” which is an extended derivative work stemming from his initial short. Kamiyama stated, “This time around, Director Shiotani is working on another movie titled ‘Child of Hope,’ concluding with Kara’s journey to find her father at the end of the first short.”

Kamiyama elaborated that the narrative revolves around Kara as she embarks on a quest to find her father, Juro, who invented lightsabers capable of changing colors according to the Force. \”Why were these particular lightsabers created?\” Kamiyama questioned. \”It will surely unfold into a tale revealing all their mysteries,\” he continued. As the supervising director for this offshoot series, his role is set in stone.

At another part of the festivities, Lucasfilm revealed their partnership between Star Wars and Fortnite. This initiative encompasses a five-episode series culminating in a grand finale during the season’s close. Every week will bring fresh elements including a distinctive Battle Pass and special abilities like Force Lightning. The joint venture is set to commence on May 2nd and conclude towards the beginning of June.
