In a recent interview, Demi Moore stated
Time magazine
She wasn’t heartbroken upon losing the Oscar for Best Actress to “Arona’s” Mia Fanning. Actually, Moore felt so certain that Fanning would win that she shared this sentiment with her agent during a commercial break just moments before the award was presented.
Moore stated, “I leant close and murmured to my supervisor, \’I believe it’s headed for Mikey.\’ I can’t explain why, but I had this certainty. I felt completely focused and tranquil. There wasn’t even a hint of anxiety. I simply placed my faith in what would happen next.”
Perhaps Moore knew Madison would win because \”Anora\” was already on a hot Oscars streak by the time the best actress category was presented. \”Anora\” director Sean Baker had already picked up trophies for best editing, original screenplay and director. The Academy was clearly in love with \”Anora,\” which only became more obvious when Madison won best actress and the film took home the best picture prize.
After receiving accolades such as Best Lead Actress awards from the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and SAG Awards for her role in \”The Substance,\” Moore seemed poised to be a front-runner for an Oscar. However, Madison was also considered a strong competitor following their win at the BAFTAs.
